Introductions

The first few minutes of any movie are crucial to the understanding of the plot and the background of the film or book. In the movie step up 2, the beginning is her talking about her life previous to the current point. She tells us how when she was young she wanted to be a dancer like the ones she saw on the streets. She then continues to tell us how her mother died when she was young and that she would always tell her to follow her dreams. Then the actual movie begins and it is a bunch of people in masks dancing around in a subway. You would not be able to understand what is going on in the movie if you never saw the beginning. You wouldn’t understand why she dances so much, why she is in a crew, or why she loves to dance and does the things she does in the movie. In Macbeth, the beginning tells us about how everyone in the play acts and you can kind of tell what events are going to happen and what people are going to try and do. Macbeth becomes the Thane of Cawdor and witches foresee him becoming king. This kind of tells us that he is going to try and kill the king. We then find out that his wife is going to help him. All this information seems to play out well and I can’ wait to continue reading this Shakespearean play. It looks like the events coming up will be interesting. You are able to do this with any movie or book with a good beginning. This is why beginnings are crucial to a movie or book being well written.
